Nature, imagination and young creative voices

Welcome to the Maria Grujicic Studio Children’s Art Gallery.

This growing online gallery celebrates children’s creative responses to nature, stories, place and imagination.

The artworks shared here come from workshops, book events and creative gatherings connected to Maria Grujicic Studio. Each drawing holds its own world: mystery trees, swings, flowers, birds, imagined creatures, bushland pathways and memories of being outdoors.

With parent or carer permission, selected artworks are shared to celebrate children’s ideas, creative confidence and the many different ways a story can grow through art.

At the Bookshop Darwin signing, children were invited to draw their own Mystery Trees and imagined places.

What emerged was full of colour, memory and surprise: tree swings, flowers, birds, sky, water, secret pathways and places to play.

A simple drawing invitation can become a way for children to tell stories about what they notice, remember, hope for and imagine.
At this Montessori-informed Mystery Plants and Trees art workshop at Stuart Park School Darwin, children and parents created side by side, observing lines, shapes, textures and colours found in leaves and natural materials.
 
Through guided drawing, tracing, frottage and watercolour exploration, each family developed a unique creative response. Working together supported confidence, conversation and shared discovery, while still allowing every young artist’s ideas and individual way of seeing to emerge.

From drawing to wearable art

Art can continue growing beyond the page.

This section includes selected wearable-art examples created from my own child’s drawings, showing how children’s ideas can become keepsakes, gifts and everyday creative objects.

The gallery celebrates children’s creative voices; any wearable-art examples shown here are shared only with permission and are intended to inspire possibilities rather than prescribe an outcome.
 
The possibilities are open-ended: a drawing may become a story, a postcard, a print, a garment, a shared memory or the beginning of another artwork.
