Tactile Wall Art: Exploration, Sculpture & Installation is an original Maria Grujicic Studio creative learning resource for children aged 6–12.
Developed by Darwin-based artist, educator and author Maria Grujicic, this process-led visual arts resource invites children to explore tactile materials, found objects, sculpture, drawing, painting, storytelling and collaborative installation through guided, open-ended PlayArt experiences.
Rather than following fixed craft templates, children are encouraged to observe, experiment, make creative choices, develop their own artistic responses and contribute to a shared evolving artwork.
About This Resource
The Tactile Wall Art Project began during Maria's Creative Arts studies at Charles Darwin University, where her original investigations into drawing, found materials and sculptural arrangements developed into a multidimensional installation.
The project subsequently evolved through artistic experimentation, exhibitions and participatory workshops, including the Tactile Wall Art exhibition at UNTiTLED gallery+studio in Darwin.
Drawing on more than 25 years of teaching experience, Maria has developed this resource to help educators create environments that encourage curiosity, independence, observation and creative expression.
The resource incorporates Montessori-informed and inquiry-based educational principles alongside Maria's original artistic practice and the Maria Grujicic Studio Method — Create → Transfer → Repeat.
