Captured beneath the trees near the Ludmilla bushblock in Darwin, this photograph began as an unexpected moment shared between friends — standing together, talking about nature, birds, and how fortunate we are to live alongside such remarkable wildlife in the Northern Territory. Hearing a rustling overhead, the artist instinctively lifted the camera toward the branches. It was only later, back at home, that the hidden bird revealed itself in the photograph — a quiet and magical discovery among the leaves. This fleeting encounter later inspired one of the illustrations in Mystery Plants & Trees: Adventures in the Ludmilla Bushblock, continuing the connection between observation, storytelling, and place.
